Prologue

A long time ago at an English pub far far away…………

or a short walking distance/quick TTC ride for most Torontonians, there worked three movie lovers destined to provide the world with their movie opinions no one needed or asked for.  Deep in their hearts they felt that in a world over-saturated with podcasts, there should be one podcast to rule them all, one podcast to find them, one podcast to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them, and thus Talk Movie To Me was born. With audiences reading reviews riddled with biases and political agendas, these three wanted the truth! But could they handle the truth? Because with great movie watching comes great responsibility.

Join our three self-proclaimed movie heroes as they go where no film podcast has gone before … okay so some film podcasts go there but ours is better! …  on an adventure through the good, the bad, and the ugly of films.

To infinity and beyond!

Ms. Sinclair

is an avid film lover and creator residing in Toronto, Canada. Described as the Wednesday Adams of the Talk Movie To Me crew, Ms. Sinclair has always had a taste for the macabre. She attributes this to growing up watching BBC murder mysteries with her mother, and somehow renting horror movies she was too young to watch from the local video store. As a Myers Briggs ENTP, Ms. Sinclair loves to debate films with her two favourite people Helen and Edison.

Aside from film podcasting, Ms. Sinclair has worked for the Milledgeville-Eaton film festival as a judge and programmer for horror and sci-fi films, as a moderator for the Toronto Open World Film Festival, and also is the creator of “This Just Got Weird” a blog about those truly bizarre films that are, simply put, not suited for dinner conversation. She loves the films of David Cronenberg and Denis Villeneuve and spends most of her time watching classic films from the Library. When she isn’t watching movies you can usually find her antique shopping, catering to her demanding but lovable cat and arguing with someone over whether or not Meryl Streep deserves all those Oscar nominations (because let’s face it…she doesn’t).

Victoria “Helen” Maria

has been obsessed with movies basically since birth. When she was nine, she had a Titanic poster above her bed and insisted it had nothing to do with Leo being a heartthrob and everything to do with her appreciation for the craftsmanship of the epic. Originally from Calgary, Alberta, Helen moved to her dream city, Manhattan, to attend an acting conservatory. After six years in the Big Apple, Helen relocated to Toronto where she met her film soulmates Ms. Sinclair and Edison. One day, the three cinephiles decided to turn their never-ending movie discussions into a podcast and in true Aries/ENFJ fashion, Helen has become something of the mother of the trio. When she’s not podcasting, Helen is both acting in and making movies of her own. With the intention of creating content which champion’s female stories, Helen’s first producing venture, March, tells the story of a woman in the not-so-distant future navigating a world where her reproductive rights have been frighteningly limited. Helen loves a good romance, most things dark and gritty, and basically has no time for superhero movies.

Edison Skinner’s

love of movies began when he first saw Spielberg’s masterpiece, Jaws. It was at his grandparents’ house in Nova Scotia, summer of 1992. He was 9 years old, eyes glued to the TV, experiencing some mighty combo of paralyzing fear and pulsing delight. Edison is the cheerful optimist of the Talk Movie To Me group and loves anything superhero, sci-fi, fantasy and diva. He also focuses on films that feature LGBTQ representation and stories from that community. Edison is known to be rather a reactive film-goer, empathetic to nth degree. Once, while watching It in the theatre, he jumped so hard he kinked his neck and had to wear a neck brace for a week. A classic ENFP, Edison isn’t content with one creative path; he wants to do all of the things. He has a degree in Journalism, but has also studied Acting, Interior Design, Social Media Marketing and most recently Screenwriting. When he’s not bantering with his movie-loving kindred spirits Helen and Ms. Sinclair, Edison can be found playing water polo with the Triggerfish, helping decorate friends’ apartments and drinking craft beer at his favourite drag shows. Tip your queens.
